1. School Suspension Intervention Programme (3-10 days) $3,000 per person
The School Suspension Intervention Programme (SSIP) is DRF’s flagship programme that was designed for attached youths between 10-18 years to address maladaptive behaviours through one-on-one sessions and psycho-educational
group sessions delivered by trained youth friendly young adults- Youth Peace Facilitators (YPFs). Students may be referred by School Based Professionals, parents/guardians and other entities with such authority.
SSIP group sessions are conducted with a maximum of fifteen (15) students for 6 hours per day and features lessons on: anger management, conflict resolution, goal setting, peer pressure, emotional intelligence, self-esteem
among others; one-on-one sessions focus on children’s well-being and facilitates a safe space for them to express themselves. In addition to this, cases of disputes between youths are mediated to allow for continued relationships
and/or harmonious co-existence. The programme is delievered online or face-to-face (with strict adherance to all Covid-19 protocols).
Follow-up sessions are conducted post programme where students engage in additional one-on-one sessions. Some of these sessions may be family engagement sessions depending on the nature of the case.
2. Rap Session (1 hour 15 mins) $5,000 per person
Our uniquely designed Rap Session is aimed at improving relationships and building/rebuilding rapport between youths and persons in authority. These sessions are also aimed at providing a safe space for self-expression to
ensure all involved feel as though they have been heard. This inturn improves relations by fostering understanding and promoting positive attitudes and mutual respect among attendees.
A typical Rap session features the attendance of persons with differing perspectives, for example Parent – Child, School Based Professionals – Students and Police Officers – Students. Sessions contain no more than ten (10)
persons and cohorts are equally represented, i.e. equivalent number of participants from each group. Individuals in attendance are engaged in activities including one-on-one listening excercises, perspective taking, general
dicussions and so on. Sessions are accommodated virtually or face-to-face (with strict adherance to all Covid-19 protocols). This activity can also be used as a team building exercise.
3. Sensitization Sessions
I. Parent Sessions (2 hours per day for 5 days/ 2 hour session for 1 day) $10,000/ $3,000 per person
Parent sensitization sessions are geared at improving parenting skills and providing emotional support to help parents/guardian effective navigate parenthood. These sessions enable parents to share their experiences/difficulties,
receive and offer support and advise each other as to best practices. Sessions are conducted online or face-to-face (with strict adherance to all Covid-19 protocols).
Sensitization is conducted with a maximum of fifteen (15) parents, exposing them to topics such as effective discipline, parenting styles, coping with stress among others. The use of reflection activities, role plays/demonstrations,
homework assignments and so on are featured in the content delivery of these sessions. For the 5-day session, a follow-up program is facilitated post engagement to offer assistance and advice to parents as needed.
3. SENSITIZATION SESSIONS
II. Sessions for NGOs, Government & Educational Institutions (45 Minutes – 1 Hour) $10,000 per session
These sensitization sessions are designed to promote a positive and peaceful environment using proven techniques. Sessions take the form of presentations and often focus on one or more of the following topics: Conflict Management,
Anger Management, Peer Pressure, Goal Setting, Core Values, Self-Esteem. The mode of delivery for presentations as well as techniques used during same are left to the discretion of the DRF presenter as well as the entity
requesting the session. The cost per presentation is standard and remains the same regardless of audience size.
4. PEER MEDIATION TRAINING
(5 days) $25,000 per person
Students/Youths/Church leaders/Youth Club Leaders are trained in conflict resolution and peace building skills. The peer mediators are trained to become peace managers- youth advocates who are equipped with skills to amicably
resolve conflicts; these youths prove to support the work of DRF within their respective communities and schools. The participation of either the Community Representative/ Guidance Counsellor or Dean of Discipline is sought
to help sustain the programme within the school or commmunity.
Peer Mediation training is conducted over a five (5) day period with a maximum of nine (9) youths and features a theory and practical component; the first three (3) days are dedicated to the former and the final two (2) days
to the latter. Trainings are scheduled as follows:
• Day 1-3- Training theory & role plays
• Day 4- Practice & preparation for assessment
• Day 5- Assessment
Trainings are conducted online or face-to-face (with strict adherance to all Covid-19 protocols). After training is completed, certificates are awarded to successful participants.
5. Summer Camps (two weeks) $5,000 per person
Summer Camp is a comprehensive intervention that commences each summer in July, spanning across the final two weeks of the month. The Camp target youths between the ages of 10-18 years to engage them in various critical thinking
games and physical activities, laden with important life lessons. This action packed intervention also features environmental field trip(physical camp) and presentations from a wide cross section of organizations in Jamaica.
Summer camp typically targets a maximum of fifty (50) youths if held physically and one hundred (100) when conducted virtually.
